Yahoomc: Thanks for joining us, Shane and welcome to Yahoo! Chat

shane_meier: hello, hello everyone it's good to finally be here with Yahoo!

Yahoomc asks: First, tell us a little bit about the series...

shane_meier: Call of the Wild ... Based on the Jack London book ... The adventures of a boy and his dog in the Yukon back in the 1800s. We have shot 13 episodes for the season. We are currently on a hiatus I have not seen an episode yet.

kittycat_32_us asks: What is it like working with a dog as you costar?

shane_meier: It is not available in Canada It is great to work with a dog it was hard to get used to it is not an actor, but a wild animal I have learned how to play off a wild animal than an actor Yes

Yahoomc: Did you have to go through any kind of training yourself?

shane_meier: I had to train with him for a few week before shooting verbal commands, signings the basics

fuzzy_bumblebee asks: Do you have any pets? If so please name them.

shane_meier: Yes A dog, a smaller one, A Pekinese His name is Lace. He is much smaller than the dog on the show... only 130 pounds lighter!

sot_fanatic asks: Shane, did you feel more comfortable working with "Buck" since you did the Silver Wolf movie and all?

shane_meier: Absolutely Silverwolf was a couple months of filming it helped out a lot with working with animals It was also with a wolf

jojolw asks: did you ever get bite?

shane_meier: No in Call of the Wild no close calls at all I work with a number of wild animals grizzly bears etc they are so well trained they never come close to getting physical with the actors

tdjw_2003 asks: Did you learn martial arts specifically for Walker or did you know martial arts before you guest starred on the show?

shane_meier: I did not know any martial arts they did train me I was trained for a month before training Chuck's team for a month it was hell for a couple of months

tdjw_2003 asks: Do you know why CBS cancelled Sons of Thunder?

shane_meier: Have no clue they do not tell the actors I have done other shows that have been cancelled. We do not get specific answers... the network does not tell us

AggressiveKitten asks: I would like to know a little bit about your acting ability (I myself am a Drama student, and I am amazed at your talent, wouldn't miss your show (Call of the wild), For anything...) How old are you?

shane_meier: I have been acting for 13 years. I've done 21 Jump Street, McGyver The Commish A lot of local shows. I was scheduled to do an X Files...but had a conflict.

garn7111 asks: have you always wanted to be an actor?

shane_meier: Not always. I just did it as an activity. It was a hobby that left to another. a movie , leads to a tv show...etc. One things builds to another I am still not sure if this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

garn7111 asks: do you have another movie scheduled?

shane_meier: Nothing right now. Heading down to LA for some meetings. Really waiting to see if the show will be picked up. That will be in June through November Yes but you just deal with it day by day, week by week you just do the best job you can The hiatus is what hurts will I be working next month.

arcticseal99 asks: what type of movies do you like doing?

shane_meier: I had a lot of fun with Silver Wolf I got to snowboard I actually am an avid snowboarder Also, I loved to work with the wild animals

jojolw asks: How often do you get to Candle Lake to visit family??

shane_meier: I get there every summer. Don't miss it. It is near Saskatchewan where my family has a cabin we still go for all the summers, water-ski, fish, etc

garn7111 asks: have you ever thought about being a vet?

shane_meier: vet...? not really, I have not really thought about it. I like animals, but am not sure it's the career for me.

Yahoomc asks: Were you a fan of the book before auditioning for the series?

shane_meier: I love to work with them I did it was a requirement in high school it is a classic book and Jack London is a brilliant writer I also love White Fang.

kittycat_32_us asks: Shane, where do you tape your show?

shane_meier: Bordertown An hour outside of Vancouver Canada, The town is called 40 Mile

Yahoomc: Did you have to build a set there or is that what the town looks like?

shane_meier: It was built there like a studio, they film a lot there Dead Man's gun was also shot there.

light8_81 asks: What is it like to be so famous, and still be young?

shane_meier: Haaaa I wouldn't say that I'm that famous yet or that young. It is good as it is now. I like my private life a\ and able to hang out with my friends I usually can go about my business

garn7111 asks: who has been your fave celebrity to meet?

shane_meier: A whole lot of them.. my favorite is Clint Eastwood As an actor and director. I learned a lot from him. Also Ed Harris I worked with him on Needful Things. I worked with them when I was younger and they treated me and my family wonderfully.

Yahoomc: Tell us what it was like to work with Clint on Unforgiven. How old were you when you appeared in that film?

shane_meier: 13 my first feature film, it was amazing it was a 2 week shoot. I was young and very inexperienced. I felt at home and comfortable working with Clint.

cuteblondeinwv_2002 asks: have you ever been whitewater rafting? and if you haven't would you ever go?

shane_meier: Have not. I plan to go this summer, if I am not filming. We have great white water up here in British Columbia

cute_oriental_princess16 asks: Shane, if you could go any where in the world where would you go and why????

shane_meier: I have not traveled much at all I have been busy working for the past 5 years. Australia would be the first choice.

garn7111 asks: do you have sisters or brothers?

shane_meier: two brothers: one is 25 and is a chiropractor; my younger brother just turned 19 and is a lifeguard at a local pool. Neither of them have tried or wanted to get into acting.

jessi_hott asks: Shane baby you are so hott!

shane_meier: No

AggressiveKitten asks: Are you currently in a relationship?

shane_meier: I have been single for a few years and want to remain that way. Thank you for your comment.

drunken_irish_monkey asks: if you could do it all again would you choose acting as a career

shane_meier: Yes, I think I would I've had a lot of fun.. it matured me a lot. I have been able to travel through Canada and the US. I have also learned from all the people I've worked with. I is great to have all those experiences.

Yahoomc asks: What attracted you to the series?

shane_meier: I was living in LA and heard that it was shooting back home. It is a classic novel. It is a good series, with a solid story. It is not a typical high school drama.

britneys_boy_toy_2000 asks: Shane, what was the last really good CD you bought? What kind of music are you into?

shane_meier: Last CD I bought was ...thinking I love country music. House...alternative... I really am not keen on heavy rap music. Blink 182 album was the last CD I bought. Actually, I will be at their Portland show.

tdjw_2003 asks: are you ever going to guest star on Walker again that you know of?

shane_meier: Nothing yet, no. I have not heard anything. The Sons of Thunder storyline is gone. I would go back if asked.

Yahoomc: Have you kept up on the martial arts?

shane_meier: I did for a while. I thought that the series would get picked up, so I kept up. But once it fell through, I was not totally into it. Not like I was before.

nunzio32 asks: What do you put your faith in?

shane_meier: I am doing this 'hobby' day by day. I am not trying to make it as a full career. My faith is around my family. I do what I have to do to make my life the fullest Ride the wave as long as you can.

korn_creed2000 asks: Do you do your own stunts?

shane_meier: Some of them for Sons of Thunder. I did a lot of the snowboarding ones. The producers are picky and want to make sure that I don't get hurt. It is fine for a stunt double. They are professionals and giving someone else a chance to have fun.

little_bunny_2003 asks: What do you enjoy doing on your own time?

shane_meier: Um... I like all sports. I like watching Hockey and Basketball. I like the Extreme sports: any type of extreme sport.

Twilight__Girl asks: What breed of dog is that?

shane_meier: Buck is a 60% timberwolf, and 40% Malamute. He is a cross. he is 140 pounds and comes up to my waste. He is the biggest dog I've ever seen in my life. He is the size of a desk! He's massive. He gets his size from the Malamute.

Yahoomc: Is there only one dog that plays buck?

shane_meier: There are a few. One we use 99% of the time. The other is used for special shots, or when Buck is shooting another scene with me.

Yahoomc asks: Is it a physically demanding role?

shane_meier: Oh yeah! It is physically demanding. When I shoot a 16 hour day, up in Vancouver where it rains all the time in the mountains, it is very challenging. That's a good question.

kiara_pup555 asks: How did you do the scene where you shot Buck?

shane_meier: Actually, I did not shoot him. The camera was cut when I shot, but as a viewer you don't know what I was shooting at. I did actually but the end of the gun to a sack of flour. It was not the dog.

kiara_pup555 asks: So what were you shooting at?

shane_meier: I was shooting at the wall. In the episode, Buck has a disease. I am the gun at him, but can not do it. Instead I lay beside him and figure out a remedy.

Blue_Alien_Drummer_99 asks: What's your favorite part of playing the role?

shane_meier: Working with the star, a dog. Working with a beautiful wild animal. It is not atypical show that is on the network... there is not love, murder, high school drama, it is a wholesome family show That is what I like about it. There is nothing like it.

a_bb_y_01 asks: Do you get to spend a lot of time with your friends?

shane_meier: Absolutely. I am a big family, friend person. I got a little homesick when I was in LA. It is good to be home.

britneys_boy_toy_2000 asks: How do you feel about playing all these teenage roles? Would you rather play a role closer to your age?

shane_meier: It does not bother me. I have never played anyone close to my age. Usually, I play a 17 or 18 year old. I don't look old and I'm not aging. As I said, get a wave and ride it. It is works do it.

groovygurl1660 asks: Do you like cats?

shane_meier: I am really allergic to cats. I have never owned one. I sneeze and my eyes get itchy.

drunken_irish_monkey asks: when did you find the time to chat with a bunch of your fans?

shane_meier: My schedule is pretty open that we are done filming. I am back to an unemployed actor. I am relaxing and working on my social life. We are working on the promotion of the show and I will do what I can . Thanks for the great questions and keep watching the show. Hopefully, we'll get season #2.
